Power Of The Pen

Power of the Pen™ is an educational writing program, which targets 7th and 8th grade students in Ohio. It emphasizes creative writing and allows young writers to compete. There are three levels of competition (District, Regional, and State) where students participate in three rounds of impromptu writing and receive instant feedback from judges.

St. Andrew-St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School is proud to participate in the Power of the Pen program. It is a chance for students to develop their writing skills at an early age, and gain confidence in competitive situations. Power of the Pen is a rigorous academic competition, and SASEAS has been a top performing participating school since 1997.

Qualifying for a spot on the school team is very competitive and selective.  Many students try out but few make the final team, which can only be 6 writers with two alternates, at each grade level. However, Power of the Pen allows participating coaches to use its resources to enhance the classroom writing curriculum, so all language arts students at SASEAS benefit from our school's involvement in Power of the Pen.
